I was drawn to this profession because of the deep fulfillment I find in building genuine relationships with patients and providing care that is both clinically competent and guided by their values. My path was shaped by earlier experience in EMS and work in an emergency department. I am drawn to the complexity of oncology care and find purpose in helping patients navigate it. What I find most rewarding is the connection I share with my patients and the privilege of working alongside a passionate interdisciplinary team.My clinical background is grounded in hematology and oncology. I began my career as an inpatient hematology-oncology registered nurse at UVMMC, and the experience I gained as a bedside nurse gave me a deeper understanding of the oncology care continuum that continues to shape how I practice today. I am especially passionate about serious illness communication. My doctoral project focused on improving how these conversations are documented and integrated into care, and I am committed to bringing that work into everyday practice with patients and families.Throughout my career, I have come to appreciate the importance of providing care that reflects each patient's goals and values. Building trusting relationships and helping patients navigate complex decisions are central to my approach to care.Outside of medicine, I enjoy running, backcountry skiing and biking. I also like spending time with a good book, music or a movie. Having a balance of active and quiet time helps me recharge and show up fully for my patients.
