Description

As a physician, ethicist, educator, researcher and writer, I care for people with HIV and other infectious diseases and help lead our ethics program. My research encompasses immune protection from HIV transmission and tuberculosis, vaccine immunology, tuberculosis epidemiology, medical education and clinical and organizational ethics.Beyond scholarly publications, I have written about compassionate care and clinical ethics for The New York Times, Washington Post, STAT, Atlantic and beyond. At UVM Larner College of Medicine, I teach medical students and others about ethics, infectious diseases and public health. In all of this work, I enjoy helping teams do their best work and make the best possible decisions by working together.
