My initial reason for becoming a doctor was to use my education in a way that felt meaningful and consequential. Now that I am in this role, I find that my ability to be involved in my patients' care and impact their lives a daily basis is more rewarding than I ever imagined.A prior mentor once emphasized the concept of treating every patient as if they were my family member — a concept that has stayed with me throughout my training and continues to guide my approach to care.I try to see each situation from my patient's perspective, listening closely to their concerns, and addressing not only their medical needs, but also their fears and emotions. While my specialty is nephrology, I take a holistic view of my patients' health. I value the opportunity to connect with them as individuals and to support their overall personal and medical well-being.
